Do Not Do This in The Cayman Islands

The reefs are a huge part of the ocean, people from all over the world come here to the carribean to experience them. There are thousands of different types of fish that also depend on the reefs and consider them home, and or food.

Here is one thing that is killing the reefs, that you can prevent by just having the knowledge of it.

Oxybenzone and Octinoxate are two ingredients found in certain sunscreens.

These two ingredients have been linked to reef bleaching, which can ultimately kill the reef, the life that depends on the reef, and destroy the beauty of our planet. The two ingredients are literally toxic to reef life, I can only imagine how toxic it is to use on our skin.

Next time you plan a trip to ANY beach, make sure your sunblock does not have these two ingredients in it.

There are many sunblock without these ingredients in it, you just have to look for them sometimes.
